1. Contest entries must be the original work of the submitter.
    1. Entrants may be required to provide screenshots of the timeline of the video in the editor.
  2. Only one (1) video per editor, per category will be eligible for competition.
    1. Multi-editor videos are allowed.
      1. Each editor is considered a contestant in the category the video in entered
      2. Multi-editor videos will designate a contact person for the AFW AMV Contest
    2. Editors may submit extra, un-judged videos
      1. Un-judged videos must meet all other rules regarding duration, quality, and content, except as noted in item 2.(b)(ii)
      2. Un-judged videos may have reasonable credits, bumpers, and other identification specific to the editor and video.
      3. Un-judged videos will be shown, time and resource permitting, after all judged entries are shown.
  3. The contest categories are: Action/Up-beat, Romance/Drama, and Comedy/Parody.
    1. Video categories may be added, removed, or combined at the discretion of the AMV Contest Coordinator.
  4. Videos cannot contain bumpers, subtitles, logos, or other identifying marks. Uniform credits will be created.
    1. Acceptable items include:
      1. material in the original source footage (as would be seen on a DVD without subtitles or closed-captions turned off)
      2. material added by the editor for the enhancement of the video such as speech bubbles, or context sensitive captions
      3. as approved by the AMV Contest coordinator
  5. Videos must have 1 second of black video, without audio, preceding and following the video.
  6. Videos must be at least 25 seconds but no longer than 6 minutes excluding black video required by item 5.
  7. Videos must contain at least 50% Japanese anime or video game footage.
    1. Other Japanese anime or manga style source will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  8. Each video must be submitted with an accurately completed submission form.

  9. Videos must be submitted before 11:59pm, June 19, 2017.
    1. Videos may be submitted by
      1. FTP
      2. Mail (CD/DVD/Blu-ray)
      3. Special arrangement with the AFW contest coordinator
    2. All physical media becomes the property of AFW and will not be returned.
  10. Videos must be in a usable format for playback and disk authoring.  Note: Please avoid multi-stream containers such as MKV as they do not pay well with the disk authoring software.
    1.  Primary Playback will on a PC using the current version of VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) or MPC-HC (http://mpc-hc.org/).  Please check that your file(s) will play back in those software programs.
    2. A Blu-ray Video Disk for archive which will be mastered using Adobe CS6.  The final disk will be encoded with video set at: H.264, 1920×1080, 23.976 fps, Progressive, VBR, 1 pass, Target 25.00 Mbps, Max 30.00 Mpbs; and audio set at: PCM, 48 kHz, 16-bit, Stereo
  11. Videos must be family friendly.
    1. Disqualifying content includes:
      1. Objectionable content of video or lyrics. Such as,
        1. excessive violence,
        2. excessive profanity, or
        3. sexually explicit footage or lyrics
      2. Poor audio or video quality.
      3. Failure to adhere to the contest rules.
      4. Other content deemed unacceptable by the AFW staff.

By submitting your video(s) to this contest you authorize us to screen and distribute it under the Anime Festival of Wichita AMV contest title.
